On construction machinery, hydraulic hoses are challenged most by abrasion, pressure impulses and tight installation spaces. Gates offers flexible hose families with abrasion-resistant covers for high-impulse environments such as construction and mining.
At Omar Hortum, we have been based in Gaziantep since 1987 and we are an authorized Gates distributor. Below we have gathered the hoses in our range that Gates lists for construction machinery; just call us for sizes and prices.
Our Gates hoses for construction machinery
- Gates® MXG™ 5K-XTP with XtraTuff™ Plus Cover: Gates lists this hose for excavators, booms and loaders; the XtraTuff Plus cover offers 25 times the abrasion resistance.
- Gates® MXG4K-XTP XtraTuff Xpiral Hydraulic Hose (280 bar): Gates' MXG 4K datasheet lists booms, excavators and hydrostatic drives; an alternative to spiral hose in high-pressure lines where flexibility is required.
- Gates® MXT™ Wire Braided Hose - SAE 100R16: Gates lists the MXT family for construction machinery and compact loaders (skid steers); with up to 40% less bending force, it is easy to route in tight spaces.
- Gates® MXT-XTP XtraTuff Steel Wire Braided Hydraulic Hose (2SC): The XtraTuff-covered version of MXT; according to Gates, 30 times more abrasion resistant than standard hoses.
- Gates® Pilot Wire and Textile Braided Hydraulic Hose: Gates: for hydraulic pilot control lines in tight spaces on industrial, construction and agricultural equipment.
- Gates® Multi Master GMV Steel Wire Spiral Hydraulic Hose (R4): Gates presents this hose as a multipurpose hose for the construction sector: air, water, coolant and refined fuel; hydraulic return and suction lines.
- Gates® Plant Master™ Hose: According to Gates, for air and water lines that require flexibility in every sector, including construction; not used in oily environments.
How to choose
When choosing a hydraulic hose for construction machinery:
- Pressure class: Gates offers MegaSys hoses in 21, 28, 35 and 42 MPa classes. For high-pressure lines such as booms, Gates specifies MXG 5K-XTP (350 bar) and MXG 4K-XTP (280 bar). The working pressure of each size is given in the size chart on the product page.
- Impulse life: Gates tests braided MegaSys hoses to 600,000 impulse cycles and spiral and Xpiral (MXG) hoses to 1,000,000 impulse cycles.
- Fitting: Impulse life is rated for the hose and fitting together: MXG 5K-XTP is rated for 1,000,000 impulse cycles with GlobalSpiral fittings and 600,000 with MegaCrimp fittings; on this hose, MegaCrimp is used only in sizes -6 and -8.
- Cover: For abrasion, Gates offers XtraTuff-covered hoses: MXG 5K-XTP, MXG 4K-XTP and MXT-XTP.
- Temperature: -40 °C to +121 °C for the MXG family, -40 °C to +100 °C for the MXT family.
Frequently asked questions
Can MXG be used instead of a spiral hose?
Gates recommends MXG 5K-XTP and MXG 4K-XTP as alternatives to spiral hoses in high-pressure lines where flexibility is required. MXG 5K-XTP is impulse tested to the same parameters as the EFG5K spiral hose, and MXG 4K-XTP to the same parameters as EFG4K. The choice depends on the pressure and size of the line.
Does the choice of fitting affect impulse life?
Yes. Gates rates impulse life for the hose and fitting together. For example, MXG 5K-XTP is rated for 1,000,000 impulse cycles with GlobalSpiral fittings and 600,000 with MegaCrimp fittings.
Can I use Plant Master in a hydraulic line?
No. Plant Master is an air and water hose; its working pressures range from 150 psi to 300 psi, and according to Gates it must not be used in oily environments because of its ARPM Class C oil resistance.
